The Fly and the Shotgun…

 May 13, 2014

Fly and ShotgunThink of a time when you have been enjoying a picnic, some private time with a loved one, some personal thought time, or any other moment where peace and quiet is important.

Now introduce the FLY into the situation. All of a sudden, the moment you have been looking forward to is suddenly turned upside down and what was going to be a totally awesome experience has now turned into a disaster. The fly is buzzing around you, not around the room, but around YOU and is dive bombing you without risk of being caught. It is bold, abrupt, and extremely annoying.

But you have some choices. You can leave the room, try to ignore it (which never works), or find something to smack it with and hopefully get back to the blissful moment you were expecting. The fly gets so annoying, you even feel like grabbing the shotgun and just blasting it so you can get back to your moment. But no matter what, you have to do something or the fly will drive you crazy.

Today…most businesses, maybe even yours, are the FLY. Your customer is the one trying to create a blissful experience of dealing with you that is easy and peaceful and without issue. But most companies don’t get this and it isn’t what gets delivered to your customer. You make the customer to do it YOUR WAY instead of their way. You have become the fly…and your customer is now looking for the shotgun.

Any wonder why Word-of-Mouth about you and your company either doesn’t exist or isn’t that great?
